Objective: Design and create an "avian sanctuary" that fits both the functional needs of the user -the bird- and the aesthetic needs of the consumer, the human.
Skills: sketching, laser-cutting, wood-working, steam-bending, crochet, sewing, Fusion 360 modeling
Materials: Sapele wood, nails, metal wire, metal dowels
Timeline: 5 weeks
Date: Spring '25
I chose the mourning dove for its nostalgic call that reminds me of childhood evenings. Their symbolism of love and devotion connects to my parents’ upcoming anniversary, inspiring the idea of an avian sanctuary where couples can celebrate with “love doves.”
